Be Humble in Times of Plenty

Marcus Sanders

Scripture
2Chr. 32:26 Hezekiah humbled the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the Lord did not come on them in the days of Hezekiah.
Observation
God gave King Hezekiah great success. The word says there was not a king like him after or before. He did what was good, right and true before the Lord. It says that God left him alone only to test him that He might know all that was in his heart. (v. 31) Can God trust us with the things we have?
Application
When we choose to do good, right and true in the sight of God, we are promised in the Bible that God will make our ways straight. We are promised protection, joy, and daily needs. The blessings can tip the scale of abundance and move our heart to be prideful. Pride is a nasty sin that focuses on me. Hezekiah was choked with the scale of abundance to the point that God was on the outside and he was on the inside. This is the turning point of commitment. The fulcrum of our faith is in the balance. When too much of a good thing comes my way a rededication is in order to the Lord.
Prayer
Father help me never lose sight of You. I know you will bless me with the extras, but I never want that to cause me to stop loving You. Lord, You have been with me in the times of leanness and I trusted You completely. When the times of sweetness, fatness and plenty come I want to be a conduit of Your grace to help others. Thank You Lord for being in my life.
