Power of His Word

John Tilton

Scripture
Hebrews 4:12-13 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
Observation
I love the reality of these scriptures, as they reveal that there is power, truth and revelation in God's word. We may at times look at God's word as words on paper that can communicate facts of God and His will. However, God's word is so much more. God's word is full of life and inspires life. Thus, reading God's word will benefit us with inspiration as well as convicting as needed. What is so key here is that God's word judges the thoughts and attitudes of our heart and nothing is hidden from God. It is God's word that is the power in our lives.
Application
I know that I need to take the time and effort in reading God's word so that I can receive the power of His inspired scriptures that can and will encourage and inspire, or convict and reprimand. I need to know that God loves me and His plan is to expand my influence for Jesus. My devo time is so important in growing my character and heart. There is truly power in His word.
Prayer
Dear Lord,May I not take your inspired word for granted as words on a paper. Yet, please continue to instill in me the power of your word in guiding my life, heart and character.
