PASTORS' DAILY DEVOTIONAL
God's MiracleRichard Waialeale
Isaiah 38:4-6 (NIV)4 Then the word of the Lord came to Isaiah:5 "Go and tell Hezekiah, 'This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life.6 And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city.
Hezekiah prays that the Lord remembers how he faithfully walked before Him, and the Lord answers with three miracles: 1. The Lord heals Hezekiah. 2. The Lord delivers Hezekiah from the hands of the Assyrian nation, and 3. The Lord turns back time.I’ve visited people in the hospital many times, and some of those times when people we on their death bed. Often I see the family saying to their loved ones to go it’s time to be with Jesus. They say that because many have gone through pain and suffering for some time, out of their love for their loved one, they are tired of seeing them suffer, so they say it’s time to go be with Jesus. They say that because they love them. But the truth is, God controls when the time for anyone to go home to be with Him. As close as someone is to death, and as much as I hate to see anyone suffer any more then they have too, I cannot say to go be with Jesus until God says its time to be with Jesus.
I must contend for healing and continue to pray for a miracle until God steps in and trumps my request with His miracle, meaning He steps in and takes this person home to be with Him for all of eternity. That’s the greatest miracle of all. Until then, I keep praying for healing. God is in control, He makes the final decision, He makes the final call.
Lord I pray for the healing. “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)
