Keeping Your Identity in the Midst of Temptation

"God created man in His own image." (Gen. 1:27)

LIKENESS in God is our greatest ACHIEVEMENT.

"And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And He ate nothing during those days. And when they were ended, He was hungry." (Luke 4:1-2)

The 1st Temptation
"And the tempter came and said to Him, 'If You are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.'" (Luke 4:3)

"But [Jesus] answered and said, 'It is written, "Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God."'" (Matt. 4:4) The first temptation was to...

1) Use what you have for YOURSELF!

The 2nd Temptation
"And the devil said to Him, 'I will give You all this domain and its glory; for it has been handed over to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. Therefore if You worship before me, it shall all be Yours.'" (Luke 4:6-7)

2) I got the SHORT CUTS to your BEST life.
"And Jesus answered and said to him, 'You shall worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.'" (Luke 4:8)

The 3rd Temptation
"And he led Him to Jerusalem and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, 'If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here; for it is written, "He will give His angels charge concerning You to guard You," and, "On their hands they will bear You up, lest You strike Your foot against a stone."'" (Luke 4:9-11) "And Jesus answered and said to him, 'It is written, "You shall not put the Lord your God to the test."'" (Luke 4:12)

3) Exchange your FUTURE for what you feel you need NOW, & don't be CONCERNED about the CONSEQUENCES.
"And Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit..." (Luke 4:14)
