Dead Men Thriving

"You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, in Judea, in Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." (Acts 1:8)

In the presence of Christ, Peter could:

  1. DO the miraculous.
"Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came toward Jesus." (Matt. 14:29)

  2. SPEAK the miraculous.
"Jesus said to him, '... flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.'" (Matt. 16:17)

  3. Possessed miraculous COURAGE.
"Peter, having a sword, ... struck the high priest's slave and cut off his right ear." (John 18:10)

But SEPARATED from His presence, Peter failed in every way.
"Then he began to curse and swear, 'I do not know the man!' And immediately a rooster crowed." (Matt. 26:74)

BUT IN ACTS, PETER AGAIN BEGAN TO DO THE MIRACULOUS, SPEAK THE MIRACULOUS, AND HE POSSESSED MIRACULOUS COURAGE.

  1. DO
"Then Peter said, 'Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.'" (Acts 3:6)

  2. SPEAK
"Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added about three thousand souls." (Acts 2:41)

  3. COURAGE
"So they went on their way ... rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame for His name. And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they kept right on teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ." (Acts 5:41-42)

WHAT HAPPENED IN BETWEEN?

"When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit..." (Acts 2: 1-4)

Being FILLED with the HOLY SPIRIT is the same as being in the very presence of Jesus Christ.
