Herod: Missing the Miracle
Pastor Elwin Ahu
"[In] the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, 'Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.' When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him." (Matt. 2:1-3)
WHEN CHRIST SHOWS UP:- There can only be one KING.
"For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow ... in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord." (Phil. 2:9-11)
"Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set ... your minds on things above, not on earthly things ... When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature." (Col. 3:1-5 NIV) -
Pursue him YOURSELF.
"Gathering together all the chief priests and scribes ... he inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born ... Then Herod secretly called the magi and ... he sent them to Bethlehem and said, 'Go and search carefully for the Child; and when you have found Him, report to me, so that I too may come and worship Him.'" (Matt. 2:4-8) -
Allow him to GROW UP.
"Then when Herod saw that he had been tricked by the magi, he became very enraged, and ... slew all the male children who were in Bethlehem and all its vicinity, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the magi." (Matt. 2:16)
"Therefore leaving the elementary teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God ..." (Heb. 6:1).- Greatest miracle is IN YOU.
