On the Road with Pastor Wayne Web coverage of summer events
Day 6 - Blog Post
By Mark Ganialongo

Okay I apologize I haven’t done an update in two days. Really no excuse, but do I have a story for you...

After being separated from the group on Friday night, I was able to stay at Pastor Wayne’s ranch in Oregon. Man that place is nice. Besides getting a good devotion time with Pastor Wayne, Mike Nakahara, Derrick Miyahira, and Ryan at 6:30am, it was the beginning of an adventurous day. After completing our filming, Pastor Wayne, Mike Nakahara, and I began our trek to Portland, about 100 miles away from Eugene. On the drive there I was able to learn a lot from two very wise men in the car. Nothing like road trips, but it’s when we arrived at the airport is when the adventure began.

When Pastor Wayne began to check in to our flight to San Jose and then the words you never want to see on the airport screen popped, FLIGHT CANCLED. “Due to mechanical reasons the flight is canceled,” said our attendant. The only problem, it wasn’t just our flight that was canceled, the entire group was supposed to be on that plane. The attendant scrambled to try and find another route for us, but the earliest we could arrive was at 7:30pm. The only problem, Pastor Wayne had to speak at 7:00pm.

Next was a whirlwind of events, we moved to another airline, got a refund from the last one, and then in like thirty minutes we were off. I really didn’t remember much except this valuable lesson: Though Pastor Wayne jokes about growing old, he is in better shape then a lot of people I know, Mike too! When we got to the gate, the only person who was dripping in sweat and breathing hard was ME. They looked like they could run marathon. I knew I was out of shape. The worst: I was in a tee shirt they were in coats. Just when we were about to board the plane, four hip-hop dancers joined us.

When we arrived, Paul and Victor from Jubilee Christian Center greeted us. Great bunch of guys. Then we were off to Jubilee to get ready for that night. With most of the team not arriving till 8:30pm it was hard to get adjusted to a new environment. The dancers showed great poise, as they were accommodating to the program. They were ready to do what ever Pastor Wayne needed for the program. The night began with praise and worship from the worship band from Jubilee. Their worship team was absolutely spectacular. To worship God with them was fulfilling after such a long day. The hip-hop dancers came out next and really impressed the younger generation out there. Everyone was kind of surprised but very delighted to see what was going on. Then Pastor Wayne came on with a teaching.

Watching people really being blessed by his teaching was really great to see. At the end of service we were reunited with our other team members. It became interesting as we swapped stories about what they did and what we did. It was good to be together again. We all checked into our hotel, and went to sleep. Thus ending a long day.

Though our day was long, God was with us all the way. God has such a sense of humor. Knowing that we were slightly irritated by all the events going on, God puts the funniest flight attendant ever on our plane. He had a New York accent and said some of the funniest jokes ever. He made the safety briefing “thing” the flight attendants do the most funniest thing in the world. God knew we needed something to just pick up our spirits. It was cool that he sent this big tall bald flight attendant to encourage us.
