The Queen of Aloha New Hope attendee Patti Smart
Imagine working in the same job for over fifty years. Are you seeing it as a dream, or a nightmare? If you’re New Hope attendee Patti Smart, it was definitely more of a dream than a nightmare.
Nicknamed the “Queen of Aloha,” Patti retired from her job of fifty years as a flight attendant for Aloha Airlines on Friday, November 30. It’s a job that she has grown to love for such a long time, and she’s even reluctant to leave. "There will be sparks flying from my feet as they drag me down the runway," she said in an Associated Press article.
One more question question: if you were retiring from a job of fifty years, would you voluntarily go back to there? Though Patti is no longer working at Aloha, she still intends to attend monthly meetings. But they aren’t regular monthly meetings, they are actually monthly prayer meetings. At those meetings, Aloha employees gather to pray for their daily happenings, their families, and also for the welfare of their company.
"These are trying times. Fuel is going up, and everyone is feeling the pinch,” she said. “Aloha was started out of adversity. We became strong out of adversity, and we will survive despite adversity. I think we're going to make it."
