Witnessing to God's Paintbrush No such thing as coincidences
by Laure Adaro
Were you ever in a place or season in your life where you could look back and see God’s painting? Painting of your past season and the people you met in that season of your life.
I did and it started with an EMT who I knew prayed over my hand in the ER. I knew that I knew he was a Christian and he knew God’s word. After seeing the physician and going back to work, I told some of my friends about this man who prayed healing for my hand. And with the blessings and healing of the Lord, I didn’t need stitches, the wound had closed up so tight they couldn’t pull it apart even if they wanted. All I got was a tetanus shot and went back to work.
Months later, I became a mentor for Camp Agape here at New Hope Christian Fellowship. I became attached to a young man about 11-12 years old. He was my new buddy. Everywhere I went within our group we were arm in arm or sitting in devotions, or singing worship songs together. Two weeks after this camp, I called and spoke to his Auntie, his caregiver, first introducing myself and making sure it would be okay to call and continue this relationship. She invited me to their church’s water baptism, and I made sure not to miss this opportunity.
My spirit knew this was a Christian home, but I wasn’t sure how many or who were living in this particular home. Friday came and my buddy called me, making sure I was going to be there.
I made sure my family knew this was my time to spend with these “angels” and my husband supported my relationship. I got to meet his auntie, who is now called Mom by my buddy, his little sister, and another brother who also was at Camp Agape with us.
Then he saw his Grandpa, and said, “Come meet my Grandpa!” I went up to this man greeted him with a hug and thought he looked familiar. We talked and I asked what he did for work and where. He said he works within the ER at a local hospital. AND THEN I KNEW where I met this man. I blurted out to him, “You’re the Christian EMT who prayed over my hand that I had cut!”
And he said, “I remember you too!”
In that instant I saw God’s design over this whole picture. It was like God had a paintbrush in his hand, dipped it in a bucket of paint and within an arm span painted a glorious picture of this whole event that only he could orchestrate.
It’s more than just connecting the dots. This is God’s story about how He places people and events in our lives. Through these events, He brings compassion and love. Through the people, He teaches us how to pray for each other and love one another.
This is an amazing family that through hardship and trials banded together for the children’s welfare and upbringing, and in the middle is the presence of the Lord. All glory and honor to Jesus Christ. God is good. All the time!
Sometimes we question why, but with God, for me anyway, it is why not?! Blessings and miracles come in all sorts of packages and sizes.
“For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11
