TNG Invades Ice Palace Trading Slippers for Skates
After spending the day at the beach, what is there for Hawaii's 7th and 8th graders to do on a Friday night? Go ice skating of course! Yes, ice skating requires cold weather and ice, but Hawaii’s got it…sort of. It's indoors, but that doesn’t stop the young and the young at heart!
From 6 – 10 pm on Friday, February 23, the New Hope junior high ministry, dubbed “The Next Generation” (TNG) will invade Ice Palace, the lone ice rink on the islands.
At the last Ice Palace outing in November, kids showed up in carloads to pack into the cold building, toss aside their slippers, and lace up their skates. "It's the only time I ever wear a sweatshirt in Hawaii", remarked one teen. "And the hot chocolate is great when it gets super cold" said another teen, taking a short break from the ice. With a large turnout before, it was only a matter of time before they hit the ice again. “Sure we don’t have seasons in Hawaii,” said one ministry leader. “But that doesn’t mean that we can’t get into the winter spirit. It’s time to chill out.”
