Plan, Trust God, and improve

Sam Kapu

Scripture
Nehemiah 4:16, 17"From that day on, half of my men did the work, while the other half were equipped with spears, shields, bows and armor. The officers posted themselves behind all the people of Judahwho were building the wall. Those who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other,"
Observation
Nehemiah shares a great method of leadership with his people. First they were mocked and doubted that they could even build the wall, then when they showed some fruit of their labor, their enimies got angry and planned to attack. Knowing this Nehemiah went into action, he split the people up into families, covered his weak points, equipped the people with the tools they needed to defend and build, and he also gave them instruction to what the plan was in case of attack. The second thing he did was encourage them in the Lord. He boosted the morale by reminding them that they were protected by the most hight God, and that He will never fail them. Last, Nehemiah improved on the way he did things by implementing a better way to build the wall and protect his poeple: "from that day on, half my men did the work, while the other half were equipped with spears..."
Application
no matter who you are in someway you lead, even if it's yourself. For me as the leader of my family, and as pastor i learn very important lesson from Nehemiah today. 1) PLAN: always cover the weak points, be ready, and equip those to the best of my ability to set them up for success. 2) ENCOURAGE: I need to remember that we belong to God and if we are doing all we can to follow Him, and be obedient to Him, we are protected, and guided by Him, for he says, "I will never leave you, nor forsake you." 3) IMPROVE: always improve on the things that I'm doing whether it be how I'm loving my wife and kids, to leading the church. Optimization is the key for my growth.
Prayer
Dear God, thank you for your good word, and your servant Nehemiah for giving vital lessons for us to plan, trust, and improving my walk, and service to you. Help me to continue to use this lesson every day to fulfill my call to serve you best. Amen.
