PASTORS' DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Determined with FaithJohn Tilton
Luke 5:17-20 One day Jesus was teaching, and Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there. They had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal the sick. Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus. When Jesus saw their faith, he said,“Friend, your sins are forgiven.”
I love the determination of the men carrying the paralytic as they found the most unconventional way to accomplish their goal of geting their paralytic friend before Jesus. It not only showed ingenuity but their faith in Jesus, His teaching and His providential abilities.
I know that circumstances that seem to be unsurmountable sometimes get in the way of our thinking we are able to accomplish what we are called or assigned to do. We let the evidence determine the anticiopated outcome. We dwell on the obvious instead of seeking the possible, especially knowing the amazing power of Jesus Christ. I am dwelling today on a situation that seems to have gone south instantaneously. However, I have prayed and belove that God will work through the hearts of man to bring resolution for His glory.
Lord, I pray that you would not let the circumstances of man determine what we belive can happen. But I pray that your power and providence will give us the determination and trust that your will for good will prevail and that hearts will be softened to find resolution.
