Brotherly Gratitude & LoveJohn Tilton
2 Thessalonians 1:3-4. We ought always to give thanks to God for you brothers, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly in the love of everyone of you for one another, is increasing. Therefore we shall boast about you in the churches of God of your steadfastness and faith in all your persecutions and inmthe afflictions you are enduring.
Paul shares gratitude in his observation of the brotherly love that was taking place as they grew in their faith; especially because of the persecution they were going through and their resolve to be strong in their beliefs, call and assignment.
It often seems that when things are going good and success is abounding, i exude and express gratitude and love for others. But how about when things are going south, or I am stressed, or I feel I am being wrong? Do I still express and exude love? Really rough and tough. It seems that the natural response og good is good. But can I dress and give good when things are junk? Whatever it takes should prevail id I am to walk my talk of being a man of God. Thus, it seems that time and processing usually helps to get over the hurt, look for the good even if not much available or present, then move on. Giving the matter to the Lord in verbalization and prayer really helps. It is then that I can again sincerely express and share brotherly gratitude and love. Boasting of the love that prevails then is the result.
Lord, may you continue to allow me to remember to love others for who they are and not what they do, especially when what they do may somehow offend or hurt me. May I be encouraging and be able to process through challenges so that I can express and share brotherly gratitude and love.
