Defending Truth without being DefensiveRod Shimabukuro
The reminder in v5 is what we all need, as we learn to defend, protect and spread our faith in Jesus. It’s so easy to lose sight of loving people, but not their doctrine.
I get caught up wanting to win the “argument” but I lose the love and opportunity to be an effective witness. I see us Christians, battling each other - challenging one other’s conviction of the truth (not bad or wrong). But even I find my “pure ehart and motives” being stained by pride - a pride to win the argument and damage relationships.
To live differently today is: To remember to defend my faith with a pure heart and not fall into the pride trap of being defensive to “win an argument.”
I want to be a great defender of Your truth and not be defensive, offending others away from Your love. Please help me to be discerning and wise, filled with Your love for people’s hearts - not just love to defend Your truth. Please help me to keep my heart pure.
