The Mission Of God

Richard Waialeale

Scripture
1 Thessalonians 2:4 (NIV)
4 On the contrary, we speak as men approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please men but God, who tests our hearts.

Observation
The moment you became a believer, God gave you a mission. That mission was, now it's your turn to tell other people. You wouldn't be here today if somebody hadn't told you. Paul is saying in these scriptures that he does this not to please men but to please God. Once he became a believer in Jesus Christ, Paul knew his mission was to tell others of the Good News.
Paul did not choose his work; God selected him for the high calling of proclaiming the gospel. This responsibility was most significant to Paul, who viewed himself as coming under God’s watchful eye. So he would not dare serve with the wrong motives.
Application
The same is with every believer that moves closer and closer to God’s mission for their life. We begin to understand what, why and how, God wants to use us. One of the greatest thrills in life is to be used by God.
Who are you taking to heaven with you? We've got the greatest news in the world. Have you been sharing it with the people around you?

If I had the cure for AIDS or cure Cancer or Alzheimer or some Major Disease - I would be out sharing it as quick as I could, spending all my effort to do that.

But you and I have a message even greater than that. It's not just life changing, it's life saving.
Prayer
Father, thank You for making us part of Your plan to share the Good News. Yet, Lord we realize that's a responsibility because You have said there is no Plan B. If we don't share it there are many people who will never hear it. Help us to be moved with compassion for the people around us. In Your name we pray, Amen.
