PASTORS' DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Luke 16:31But he said to him, `If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.'"
Jesus tells a story of storing up your treasures in enternal things. Lazurus didn't have much in this world, in fact, he was dirt poor and sickly. The rich man past him and saw the need and did nothing, therefore ended up in eternal torment, while Lazurus spends eternity with Abraham and the saints. The rich man tried and failed at getting a taste of heaven in hell, when he was "persuaded" that his fate was irreversable, he wanted to save his family by a visit from Lazurus, but Abraham says here basically, "if their hearts are not willing to learn from Moses and the prophets (the word of God) then nothing will help them see." DIVINE MENTORS.
The question for my heart today is, "is the word of God enough for me?" or do I need God to perform another miracle in my llife for me to be persuaded to live out His word, or can I be persuaded by just looking at the rich truth that the word gives me every day? I need to feed on God's word and it is enough for me.
Dear Lord, thank you for your word, thank you for your son Jesus, Moses, Samuel, David, Isaiah, and all the saints and prophets that teach me every day how to be transformed into the likeness of Jesus every day. Amen.
