A martyrs prayer-am I ready?

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture
1 Peter 4:1 Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin. 2 As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. 3 For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do—living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry.
Observation
What a powerful and life giving call to surrender all to Jesus! In other words, Are you ready to die unto Jesus, giving your life to full serve Him, forsaking your evil desires for God’s will?
We’ve spent way too much time living for the pleasures and purposes of self and man. Now it’s time - it’s really time, to to live for God’s will - not ours!

That’s what I’m observing Peter commanding Christians in the last days. The end is near - he writes! That places some urgency in my heart to live for my Jesus and His eternal purposes and rewards!
Application
What do I do with these convictions Peter writes of? If this passage is true, I am doomed to self and destined to live fully, wholly and holy for Him!

I want to first be different in my perspective, attitude and heart - before I’m different in approach or the way I live. I don’t want to change my behavior, but my heart is far from the truth.

The attitude I want to develop is one of a martyr. I hope I’m not called to be one, but who am I to predestine my life and the ways of my life? To live is Christ - to die is gain. But God... am I ready to have this attitude?
Prayer
I don’t know how to pray Lord - or maybe I don’t want to pray the way that I’m writing of? Please Jesus, help me to live with a heart fully devoted, fully abandoned for You!
