PASTORS' DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Don't say I didn't tell you!Richard Waialeale
2 Peter 3:17-18 (NIV)17 Therefore, dear friends, since you already know this, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men and fall from your secure position.18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
Ever receive a word of encouragement and warning wrapped up in one? That’s what we have here. Peter says to “be on your guard” and “grow in grace.” How many times have we heard this? It’s like going to the doctor for a physical check up and the doctor prescribes his prognosis, “if you don’t start eating right, you will have heart problems in a few years.” I have the information, now what am I going to do with it?
The Words and Scriptures written in the Bible are fresh and relevant. They stand true for us today. It is a sign post and guideline for how I should live today. Today I feel as though God’s Word is saying to me, “don’t say I didn’t tell you.” Take it to heart!
Father, thank you for your grace, even in the times I behave outside of what your word prescribes. I pray for the health of the church and for those we still need to reach for Jesus. Amen.
