Which John Do People See?John Tilton
Psalm 145:8-9 The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The LORD is good to all;he has compassion on all he has made.
The Lord is truly gracious and compassionate, rich in love, exampled by His willingness to give his son Jesus Christ to suffer and be crucified on the cross for our life. In His word we read about his desire and plan to bless us with the what's best for us. The fact that we are not struck down each time we sin, is a testimony to God's graciousness and slowness to anger.
The key however is us and how we emulate God's grace, compassion, patience and love. These attributes of God are there for the taking. Yet, am I able to example his attributes in my life? What does it take for me to not be a reader, but a doer of His word. I realize that in sudden and stressful situations, my response and actions sometimes are not how I should respond and who I would like to be. They then see the old John rather then the John that knows God's love and attributes. What then can help me to respond as I should? Perhaps it is my ongoing state of heart, mind and coutenance. Where can I get this? My time with God in His word, prayer and fellowship. Then I can more often then not be the example that God desires for me to be with the attributes of who He is.
Dear Lord, my prayer is that the person people see in my will represent your attributes. May I not be just a reader to gain intellect, but rather be a doer that is equipped by your Word and Spirit in my life.
