Parental Affirmation

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture
2 Timothy 3:14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
Observation
Truth contrasts lies just as being a learner contrasts being a “learned dictator.” False Teachers can become dictatorial, pushing and pressing others to believe what they believe. This was existent and true in Timothy’s day as it is in ours. Paul is reminding Timothy to continue as one who has learned the truth, believing the instruction of his teachers. The key to identifying truth of salvation is the SOURCE. Like Timothy, my source is the Scriptures.
Application
It’s noted that Timothy learned the Scriptures in his infant days. This goes to show me that as a parent, the instruction I gave my kids was good. It was from the Scriptures that Beckie and I taught our kids. We desired to model the Scriptures as Dad and Mom, teaching Kai, Koa and Malia how to have and grow in their relationship with Jesus.

Today, I need to - want to continue praying and seeding the Word of God into our grown and growing children. My prayer is that they would continue to be learners of the Scriptures, growing in wisdom and faith in their relationship with Jesus!
Prayer
This is our prayer Lord - that our children would know the truth, and live our their faith in You, being pleasing, obedient and fruitful children of God! 3 John 4. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
