Be Excited, Be Very Excited!
By early October New Hope International will launch mentoringleaders.com. This site will be loaded with video and audio resources pastors want every day.

Drawing from his experience with church planting in Australia, Phil McCallum, the incoming Director of New Hope International will squeeze into one site some of the most helpful mentoring resources from Pastor Wayne Cordeiro and the team of New Hope leaders.

NHI’s founding director Dan Shima will enjoy some of the rewards of his retirement while keeping in touch with NHI churches in Japan and the USA. Pastor Phil McCallum has planted two churches and is now part of the teaching team at New Hope Oahu.

  Church Planters in Action!

New Hope Across Australia
Planted in 2003, New Hope Brisbane (Australia) hosts a national radio program called Historymakers with Pastor Matt Prater. A number of leaders from churches in Australia that are focused on reaching unchurched people are planning a trek to Honolulu in October to explore a wider New Hope International (NHI) network in the land down under.

Partnerships in Seattle
NHI church planter, Jon Burgess is now in year two of planting New Hope Seattle. In a surprise move, a local Baptist church has voted to give their building to New Hope Seattle and support the fledgling work. It’s the principle of alliance building in the Kingdom at work!

Land of the Rising Sums
For decades we have been told that less than 1% of Japanese people follow Christ. A recent Gallup Poll now pegs the total Christian population of Japan at a whopping 6%.

Young people are responding to Jesus in churches like New Hope Yokohama. Pastor Toru Majima, a graduate of the School of Church Planters reports 10 baptisms in the past few months and numbers of 100 packing into a room suited for 80. In Japan there are now 9 New Hope Churches birthed in the last 5 years.

On Top of the World
NHI serves in the shadow of Mount Everest with New Hope Nepal. In just seven years 12 churches have been planted under the leadership of Pastor Noel Isaacs among the poorest of the poor in Katmandu and surrounds. A recent political change in Nepal has Christians rejoicing with greater freedom to lead people to Christ.

Where Church Planters are Grown
New Hope Oahu is not just a church, it’s a classroom for emerging church planters like Trevor Drinen. The School of Church Planters program led by NHI enables Trevor to grow through leading. Trevor's lab assignments are the midweek services with 600 people and the overflow tent on weekends for 1,000 people.

Trevor says that the serving teams at the midweek have taught him the importance of graciousness in leadership. “I never know what people have gone through before they walk through the door,” says Trevor. “They could have had the greatest or worst week of their lives. It affects them in how they serve. It’s how I respond that counts.”

The School of Church Planters is a 2-5 year internship and mentoring program to develop 21st Century leaders to plant churches for contemporary people.

Small Groups Quadruple
New Hope Windward has seen the number of small groups climb from 15 to 56 in just one week. Pastor Dave Barr who began his leadership through NHI, attributes the jump to a spiritual growth campaign designed by their own leadership team.
